Climb Gods Mountain (ISAIAH 2)

Image
The Message Isaiah got regarding Judah and Jerusalem: There's a day coming when the mountain of God's House Will be The Mountain- solid towering over all mountains. All nations will river toward it, people from all over set out for it. They'll say, "Come, let's climb God's Mountain, go to the house of the God of Jacob. He'll show us the way it works so we can live the way we're made". Zion's the source of the revelation. GOD's Message comes from Jerusalem. He'll settle things fairly between nations. He'll make things right between many peoples. They'll turn their swords into shovels, their spears into hoes. No more will nation fight nation; they won't play war anymore. Come, family of Jacob, let's live in the light of God. Eugene H. Peterson Share My Bread

On Virtue

Image
O Thou bright jewel in my aim I strive To comprehend thee. Thine own words declare Wisdom is higher than a fool can reach. I cease to wonder, and no more attempt Thine height t' explore, or fathom thy profound. But, O my soul, sink not into despair, Virtue is near thee, and with gentle hand Would now embrace thee, hovers o'er thine head. Fain would the heav'n-born soul with her converse, Then seek, then court her for her promis'd bliss. Auspicious queen, thine heav'nly pinions spread, And lead celestial Chastity along; Lo! now her sacred retinue descends, Array'd in glory from the orbs above. Attend me, Virtue, thro' my youthful years! O leave me not to the false joys of time! But guide my steps to endless life and bliss. Greatness, or Goodness, say what I shall call thee, To give me an higher appellation still, Teach me a better strain, a nobler lay, O thou, enthron'd with Cherubs in the realms of day. Passion, Purpose & Profession

Image
When people talk of what to do They say find your passion and stay with that But for some others, their what to do Is to find your purpose and go with that. Now, with conflicting views on what to do Many can’t seem to choose a profession And the indecision on what to do Result in long-standing confusion. In my case, there’s the passion I love to do: Weave deep words and make them flow But there’s also the purpose I need to do: Educate, inspire, and help many grow. So I decided on what I’d do: Find a way to explore both worlds So now you see just what I do: Help many grow by weaving words. Have you discovered what you must do? The path that’s meant just for you You sure can work out what you should do By letting my story inspire you. And note that deciding is a must to do As fast as time would let you So begin in earnest on what you should do For the earlier you start the better for you. Viola Akhigbe Share My Bread

The Innkeeper’s Wife

Image
I love this byre. Shadows are kindly here. The light is flecked with travelling stars of dust, So quiet it seems after the inn-clamour, Scraping of fiddles and the stamping feet. Only the cows, each in her patient box, Turn their slow eyes, as we and the sunlight enter, Their slowly rhythmic mouths. ‘That is the stall, Carpenter. You see it’s too far gone For patching or repatching. My husband made it, And he’s been gone these dozen years and more…’ Strange how this lifeless thing, degraded wood Split from the tree and nailed and crucified To make a wall, outlives the mastering hand That struck it down, the warm firm hand That touched my body with its wandering love. ‘No, let the fire take them. Strip every board And make a new beginning. Too many memories lurk Like worms in this old wood. That piece you’re holding – That patch of grain with the giant’s thumbprint – I stared at it a full hour when he died: Its grooves are down my mind. And that board there Baring its knot-hole like a

Song of Songs

The Man You're so beautiful, my darling, so beautiful and your dove eyes are veiled By your hair as it flows and shimmers, like a flock of goats in the distance streaming down a hillside in the sunshine Your smile is generous and full- expressive and strong and clean Your lips are jewel red, Your mouth elegant and inviting your veiled cheeks soft and radiant. The smooth, lithe lines of your neck command notice all heads turn in admiration! Your breasts are like fawns, twins of a gazelle, grazing among the  first spring flowers The sweet, fragrant curves of your body, the soft spiced contours of your flesh invite me, and I come.  I stay until dawn breathes its light and night slips away. You're beautiful from head to toe, my dear love, beautiful beyond compare, absolutely flawless. Eugene H. Peterson Share My Bread

Prayer

Image
Jesus, How I love to say your name! The syllables murmur like a meadow brook. Thank you for loving me, for wanting to be with me, How I long for you to take me away with you To new places of adventure. New places of intimacy. New places of service Protect me from the little foxes that might destroy our relationship especially the foxes of complacency and ingratitude. You have given me all so much and all so freely. Help me be attentive to every gift and appreciative of every gift. Consume me with your love. May the flame that burns in you for me ignite my heart to burn for you. Forgive me for the times I have been unresponsive to you How that must hurt you. Grant me a fuller taste of your love for me. so I might fall more fully in love with you. Give me a fresh taste of your wine,  Jesus Eugene H. Peterson Share My Bread
