Jesus preached to a crowd on the shore of Lake Galilee And the people pressed in upon him to hear him Seeing two boats he stepped into one, and preached on Telling of God's love for them, and of Heaven. The boats were owned by fishermen, fishing all night Without catching any fish and they were mending nets. Jesus spoke to the fishermen's leader Simon, saying, "Take the boat a little way out and cast your nets" When the nets were hauled in they bulged with fish. Jesus then said, "You shall be the fishers of men." The fishermen became disciples, many martyred And after Jesus was crucified between two thieves They took his teachings out into the world Keeping faith, saving souls, spreading God's love. Fill me, and seal me with thy Holy Spirit, use me as thou will it Send me where thou will it. And work out the whole "will"  of my life. At any cost, now and forever.

Turning your cheek to take the blows Suffering sorrows, hardships, tribulations Enduring what was thought impossible. Putting others before yourself and loving them Being the safe harbour for troubled unhappy souls Helping those who were lost to be found again. Prophet in misery and loneliness Banished by those he serves Cries out from the wilderness Imploring compassion and tolerance Love of God embraced by all.  Love is never boastful But patient, steadfast and honest Moving mountains in its path. Love is never jealous, wicked or envious Never keeping records of wrong doings But smiling walks the extra mile. Brother John, an old monk Frail, crippled with arthritis Sitting in the monastery orchard Sleepy on a bench of stone Content among the fruit trees.
